This 1-day (6 educational hour) LIVE and IN-PERSON workshop will focus on helping veterinary professionals (vets, vet techs, and veterinary clinic staff) learn to understand and develop a toolkit to support deep self care and improve personal capacity to return to equilibrium (a.k.a. "homeostasis") on a daily basis.

We'll talk about & explore:

- practical ways to think about stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue
- the subtle but important similarities and differences between burnout and compassion fatigue
- the impact unmanaged, unregulated stress can have on your performance in your daily professional practice (and personal and family life)
ways to create a meaningful, practical toolkit to help you self-regulate (i.e. choose and use the best strategies to return to homeostasis)

Through lectures, individual exercises, small group assignments, and large group discussions, we'll explore playful, creative activities to deepen learning and practice relevant skills to build a toolkit you'll be able to put to use immediately in your daily work life. [NOTE: Participants will NOT be required to share or disclose anything they are not comfortable sharing or disclosing - this is not "group therapy".]

Attendees are invited to come prepared with an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to engage in playful activities. While some activities may seem frivolous, you are invited to consider accessing your creative soul to guide your learning and to trust that you will learn deep self-care by practicing deep self-care during our time together.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Judith Pinto, BSc(Zool), BScOT, RegOT(AB), NMI-2

After completing an under-graduate degree in Zoology, Judith pursued a career in occupational therapy. For the past 3+ decades, she has been working to improve the functioning of children, adults, and families, primarily through a mental health lens.

Currently, she provides psychoeducation and psychotherapy using attachment & emotion focused approaches, creative activities, and Kalffian Sandplay Therapy (as a Sandplay therapy intern) with adolescents and adults. She also has expertise in solution focused coaching, sensory processing, executive function coaching, trauma and grief work, and brain based meditation as a Level 2 NeuroMeditation Instructor.

Judith has always had a multi-species family that has included many birds (including the late, marvellous Cleopatra, a Blue & Gold Macaw) and dogs. Over the years, she has parented her multi-species family through heart attacks, cancers, cushings, Addison's, and euthanasias. Currently, she is Mama to Sammy, a 7-year-old Shihtzu-cross and Tango, a 23 year old White Capped Pionus. Turning her occupational therapy practice towards working with the veterinary community allows her to return to her first love by caring for those who so compassionately care for "all creatures great and small".
