Webinar 4 Allyship, Becoming an Accomplice, and Anti-Racism Action in Veterinary Medicine by Dr. Jordan Woodsworth

Veterinary professionals have a responsibility to foster equity and justice within their workplaces and communities. This 90-minute webinar explores moving beyond awareness toward meaningful action. Participants will learn the differences between allyship and accomplice work, understand anti-racism principles, and develop strategies to advocate for systemic change in veterinary medicine across Canada.

This session synthesizes the insights from the previous three webinars in our series, focusing on sustained learning and practical tools to step into action in the ongoing work towards equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging within Canada’s veterinary profession. You’ll leave with the ability to:

1. Differentiate between allyship and accomplice roles and explain why both are critical for advancing equity.

2. Understand principles of anti-racism and anti-oppression and how they apply to veterinary practice and organizational culture.

3. Identify barriers to equity in veterinary medicine and opportunities for systemic change through sustained individual and collective commitments.

4. Develop actionable steps for advocacy, policy influence, and community engagement to dismantle all forms of oppression and promote a culture of justice and belonging.
