Speakers: Melanie Wowk, BSc, DVM

I graduated from WCVM in 1993 and went on to mainly cow-calf practice until 2014 when I retired. This was to be a short-lived retirement as I was hired in 2015 as a technical services veterinarian for Zoetis, servicing the beef, equine, and small ruminant sectors.

My husband and I, along with our daughter, son, and his wife, operate Wowk Ranch Ltd., located in the county of Two Hills. We run a commercial cow/calf herd and up to 100 head of horses that are bought and sold for various purposes- rodeo, pleasure, ranch, and draft teams. I have also been serving as chair of the Alberta Beef Producers since March of this year and sit on the board of Alberta Farm Animal Care.
