The Edmonton Association of Small Animal Veterinarians Presents:
A tap dance through small animal surgery: from silly walks to sorry bottoms with Dr. Kathleen Linn, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS.


After receiving her veterinary degree from Cornell University (CU) in 1984, Dr. Kathleen Linn completed a one-year internship at Colorado State University (CSU) and then went into private practice for three years in Jamestown, N.Y. She returned to CSU for a surgical residency and master’s degree, and in 1994, she became board certified with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

For nearly a decade, Dr. Linn held various teaching and clinical roles at CSU, CU, and the University of Wisconsin before joining the WCVM faculty in 2003 as an associate professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. She is also part of the small animal surgery team at the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre.

Dr. Linn’s professional and research interests include avian and canine orthopedics as well as soft tissue injuries.

Diagnosis of lameness in cats

These will focus on physical diagnosis (including gait abnormalities specific to certain problems) and will include common as well as emerging conditions in cats and dogs.

Treatment of wounds to the distal extremity
Shearing and degloving injuries to the manus and pes can look awful on presentation, but most have a surprisingly good prognosis.

Surgery of the bottom
Here we’ll talk about treatment of masses on, around, and in the anus and perineum as well as diagnosis and treatment of perineal hernias.

What leads to us making them (with some exciting examples of errors), how to avoid some of the common ones.

Pro tips and tricks in general surgery
A potpourri of useful little techniques for dealing with common problems.
