Small exotics have been a lifelong passion for me - it started with my first pet, a boisterous budgie named Holly, when I was 9 years old. I graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in 2005 and have followed my passion ever since. In 2006 I joined Calgary Avian & Exotic as a technologist and have spent 17 years doing what I love. For over a decade I have also enjoyed being an instructor at Olds College for the exotic portion of their veterinary technician program. As exotics are becoming more popular as pets, even in rural areas, it is important that I can share my knowledge with the next generations of techs. In my spare time I enjoy being with my family and houseful of rescue animals, which includes: 2 parrots, budgies, a cockatiel, a rabbit, a lizard and a tortoise named Wilson. I’m excited to share some points on rabbit anesthesia so techs that may be seeing more bunnies can feel confident in providing care for these lovely little creatures - keeping them safe, happy, and healthy.
