Part One of a Three Track Series: An Introduction to Exotic Companion Mammals.

This two-hour session will review the most common exotic companion mammal species in practice: Their care, nutrition, suitability as pets, grooming and preventative care needs, as well as a review of some common diseases and disorders.

 

This session is pending approval for 2 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit for RVTs by the ABVMA.

Speaker: Christina Miller, AHT, RVT, BSc (Ag. Env. Sci.), VTS (CP- Exotics)

Christina has worked in the veterinary industry since 2004 and has extensive experience in general practice, emergency and critical care, as well as zoo collection management, shelter medicine, and laboratory animal medicine. Currently, she's working in clinical practice at Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital (Halifax, NS) as the Exotic Companion Animal department lead, the first service of its kind in Nova Scotia. An avid educator since 2007, Christina has been teaching specialty topics in exotic animal medicine domestically and internationally, and engages in educational and volunteer efforts through various organizations such as AEMV, ARAV, and Exotic365 (formerly ExoticsCon). She is a peer-reviewed author, and maintains a social media presence for the education of both pet owners and veterinary professionals (@csm_rvt).
