The job search process can feel overwhelming, but having a strong resume and being well-prepared for interviews can make all the difference. This webinar will provide both new and experienced RVTs with the tools and knowledge needed to craft an effective resume, confidently approach interviews, and position themselves as strong candidates in a competitive job market. It will also cover when and when not to use AI tools and whether cover letters are still required.

By the end of this session, participants will:

• Understand how to structure and tailor their resumes, based on the job requirements, to highlight key skills and experiences.
• Learn best practices for writing impactful bullet points and showcasing achievements.
• Gain insight into common interview questions and how to prepare effective responses.
• Develop strategies for handling difficult or unexpected interview scenarios with confidence.
• Learn how to follow up after an interview to reinforce their interest and application.

This session is approved for 1 hour of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit for RVTs by the ABVMA.

Speaker: Heather Quilty

Heather Quilty is a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) who prioritizes education and exploration in her career. She takes pride in being an RVT first and has enjoyed the various opportunities this designation has brought her way. Heather has held diverse roles in companion and farm animal practice, management, and recruiting. Throughout her journey, she has pursued formal education multiple times, earning a Bachelor of Education (Post-secondary) and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. She has also just completed a Masters in Employment Relations. Recently, Heather devoted herself to establishing and supporting a new veterinary technician program in St. John’s, Newfoundland. As a staunch advocate for RVTs and veterinary teams, she aims to make a 20-year veteran the norm rather than the exception.
