The ABVTA is excited to present the What's New In Industry Series!

This series is geared towards RVTs and students seeking a high-level industry update. What's New in Industry also provides an opportunity for RVTs who may work part-time, have taken leave or have recently changed practice types, to receive an update on new industry products and research.

We are excited to work together with industry partners to bring essential resources to RVTs and their veterinary teams.

Having to make tough decisions on the health of our pets is never easy. One solution that helps pet parents give their pet the best pet care without worrying about the cost is pet insurance. Additionally, the increasing use of pet insurance also brings veterinary teams peace of mind when providing care to their patients.

Join Lee and Megan from Trupanion as we discuss strategies for talking to pet parents about the value and benefits of pet insurance as well as how pet insurance can positively affect your practice and your team.

An opportunity for discussion will be available at the end of the presentation.

Registration is complimentary for all to attend

Please note, this session will be recorded and available on-demand for ABVTA members

This session is approved for 1.5 hrs of CE credit for RVTs.

Speakers:

Lee Head, RVT

My name is Lee Head and I am an RVT. I completed the Olds College online AHT program in 2010. I have always loved my time in this industry and have tried many different roles and types of work. I have previously worked in small animal, mixed practice and shelter. In 2013 I started working for Trupanion and have loved every day of this role. I get to meet fellow peers and colleagues every day and help them with hopefully making their lives easier through having insured clients. I love that I get to see all the different hospitals and team members.

I have 3 dogs, Melissa, Sam and Rambo. They are all amazing and have the best personalities. My partner Austen and I enjoy camping with our dogs, mountain biking, and doing pretty much anything outside.

Megan Konopelky, RVT

I’m Meg and I’ve been an RVT for just over 10 years.  I’m originally from Northern Ontario and completed my schooling back home through Northern College before moving out here.  I have previously worked in shelter medicine as well as in an emergency clinic and a daytime practice before transitioning to Trupanion 3 year ago.

My favorite part about working with Trupanion is getting to see and talk with everyone out in the field.  That and bringing snacks and treats because who doesn’t love snacks?!

I have 2 dogs, a shepherd mix named Shelby and Lilly is a beagle.  I also have a cat named Frank, who is more of a brat than a cat.  My boyfriend, Chris, and I like to go camping with the animals.  Last summer we went on a 5 weeklong road trip to visit our families in Manitoba and Ontario with Shelby, Lilly and Frank and got to camp at some pretty cool spots.  We also like to go quadding, fishing and have plans to travel.  Recently, we have started doing some projects around the house and in the yard.
